An air rescue vehicle to help patients in crisis medicinal needs will become effective in two months, Minister for Health V.S. Sivakumar has said.
Speaking at a function on Tuesday organised to dedicate the Centre of Excellence in Organ Transplant at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Mr. Sivakumar said that about 25 hospitals had shown interest in being part of the network that would be serviced by the air ambulance. A technical committee would inspect the expression of interest by five companies, he said.
The air ambulance was a response to the answer for coming to therapeutic consideration to patients. As organ transplantation includes running against time, air emergency vehicle would help advance the reason for organ gift through the administration's Mrithasanjeevani, the Kerala Network of Organ Donation (KNOS) that was started in 2012.
